Jammu: Govt makes CCTV cameras mandatory in vehicles

Jammu: After the aftermath of Doda’s brutal road mishap which killed 39 people and hurt 17 people on November 15 at Assar area of Doda the District administration Doda on Monday has made installation of CCTV cameras mandatory in vehicles plying in Doda.
Deputy Commissioner, Vishesh Mahajan and Motor Vehicle Department on November 18 chaired a meeting and discussed road safety measures and issued an order which has made fixation of CCTV cameras inside the public transport mandatory for the protection of travellers.
The order by the Doda district administration informed that CCTV cameras must be installed in Mini buses and Buses plying in the Doda district for the safety of passengers. The authorities have also said that if any public transport mentioned above found violating this order they will be punished strictly as per the law.
The Doda administration has sent the order personally to Chairman Mini Bus Association of Doda and Bhaderwah, President Banihal Bus Union and President Bus Union 2/2 to follow it. However, the local govt has also made mandatory fixing of retro-reflective tape on the vehicles and have apprised vehicle operators to display details of their vehicles or suffer punishment.
