Shut meat shops during Navratri in Jammu

Jammu: The locals in Jammu have sought “closure of meat and liquor shops during the nine-day period of the Navratri festival extending from 15 October to October 24”. They said that the closure of such shops is necessary to maintain the sanctity in the region.

 

As per report, the local people of Jammu has demanded complete closure of meat and alcohol shops during “Navratri days as people visit temples to pay respect to the goddess and seek blessings for themselves and their families.

During Navratri days People forego even the use of onion and garlic, and the sight of meat being sold in open or near temples makes them uncomfortable.

“During Navratri days we worship ‘Saakh’ as goddess and if anyone consumes meat that time than it pollutes the milieu of whole house.

“We request central govt and  LG sir to mymedic.es close meat and booze shops to maintain the holiness in Jammu.

“Lakhs of people come to Vaishno Devi shrine in these days to pay obeisance during Navratri so it is necessary to shut meat and booze shops.

“The govt should take cognisance of this issue. I’m of the view that liquor shops should be banned in J-K.

“I appeal to spiritual gurus of  various organisations in Jammu to also express this demand to the local administration”, said Mr Sugreev Singh, a local man.
