Jammu: CBI files 6 charge sheets in land scam case

The CBI has filed six charge sheets in connection with alleged grabbing of govt land by hotels in Patnitop area of Jammu’s Udhmapur district yesterday.

As per report, the land scam case came to light when a (PIL) No. 22/2018 was filed in High court Jammu.

Special Judge, Anti-corruption Court Ms Bala Jyoti in a court hearing registered chargesheet against six hotels namely Hotel Holiday Inn, Hotel Hollywood, Hotel Mountview, Hotel Broadway, Hotel Shahi-Santoor and Hotel Dreamland in Patnitop of Udhampur in land scam case. The matter was registered on 31-12- 2019.

The CBI took action when the hotel owners/proprietors could not apprise how they did constructions on govt land. When the case was filed against the accused hotel owners it came to fore that the constructions of the hotels were in violation of the master plan of Patnitop Development Authority (PDA) who thought of buliding  parking areas, agricultural land, residential areas in these grabbed land areas, the report said.

In connection with the Patnitop land fraud case  eight FIRs were registered against Public servants of Patnitop Development Authority (PDA) while 58 FIRs were registered against proprietors of hotel, guest houses, resorts.

The CBI has filed chargesheet against RK Verma, K.K Gupta  former CEOs of PDA and proprietors of  hotels in Patnitop.
