BSF holds Amrit Kalash Yatra in Jammu

Jammu: Celebrating the 75th year of India’s independence and under the ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign the BSF Jammu organised an Amrit Kalash (Urn) Yatra in Hiranagar area of Jammu this afternoon.

A large number of villagers, senior citizens, Sarpanches, Panches,  local school students enthusiastically participated in the event, displaying their patriotic fervor with the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel.

 The yatra involved the collection of soil from various houses and villages of martyrs in the area, which will be sent to New Delhi to built Amrit Vatika.

A local man said that soil from several houses and villages of martyrs were collected in the Kalash (Urn) which will be sent to Delhi. The soil will be used to built Amrit Vatika  near the National War Memorial by fusing the soil and saplings that would arrive in urns in Delhi.

On 31 July the PM Modi while announcing the launch of the campaign said that a Amrit Vatika will be built near the National War Memorial by fusing the soil and saplings that would arrive in 7500 urns, while will become a huge symbol of ‘Ek Bharat Shresth Bharat’.”
