BSF personnel found dead in hotel in Jammu

A Border Security Force (BSF) Personnel was found dead under mysterious circumstances from a hotel room here, police said.

They said Subash Maratrao (44) son of Maratrao Katghar of Maharashtra, who had retired from BSF Paloura recently, was found dead in the room number 507 of Swagat Hotel near Vivekananda Chowk, Jammu.

“He was staying in the hotel room for the past two days. He might have died on the intervening nights of October 1st-2nd, 2023,” a police spokesperson said, who claimed the body of the deceased was taken into custody by a team of Police Post Hari Market around 10:30 am today.

According to him, the nose of the deceased was bleeding and there were marks of vomiting in his mouth.

“A lot of tablets have also been recovered from the bag of the deceased,” he said.

While police have shifted the body of the deceased to the mortuary of the Government Medical College Jammu for conducting the post-mortem, inquest proceedings have been initiated at the concerned police station for further investigation into the matter.
