       Jammu: Man, Woman apprehended with poppy straw
Jammu: Continuing its campaign against Drugs and Narcotics, Udhampur Police recovered 24 kg 400 grams of Contraband Poppy straw from a man and woman duo at Manwal check post under the jurisdiction of Police Station Majalta last night.
Police team of Police Station Majalta led by Insp. Rakesh Kumar SHO PS Majalta under the supervision of SDPO Ramnagar Vishal Manhas was conducting routine vehicle checking at Manwal Police check post, and a vehicle (Mahindra XYLO ) bearing registration No. PB08CK8555 was made to stop which was coming from Kashmir valley towards Battal area.

During checking of said vehicle, Police team recovered 24 kgs 400 grams of poppystraw and arrested two narco smugglers who were smuggling the above contraband in the said vehicle.
The arrested persons were identified as Ranjeet Singh S/O Darshan Singh R/O Hoshiarpur Punjab and Resham Kaur W/O Surjeet Ram R/O Kapurthala, Punjab.
In this connection, Case FIR No. 79/2023 under sections 8/15 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Majalta and further investigation of the case has been taken up.
