Two nabbed in extortion case in J&K

The Shopian police arrested a lady along with her ally allegedly on charges of extortion on Tuesday in Kashmir’s Shopian district.
As per police sources, the incident came to fore when a woman who was faking as a close aide of police along with her accomplice and was approaching the families, whose wards ae in jails to get them release from the prison in exchange of money.

Acting on the complaints of local people the duo was arrested by the Shopian police and they recovered money from the apprehended persons accumulated from the families of prisoners in exchange of release of their family members from the jails.
A case FIR No. 158/2023 u/s 420,170 of IPC has been registered at police station Shopian against the accused persons.
