Officers suspended, thief held in wood burgling case in Jammu

Jammu: The  police has achieved another success by apprehending a non-local wood burglar and suspended two J&K forest department officers who were allegedly involved with the thief in the crime last night.

According to the report, the matter came to light when a team of DFO, Udhampur, Rushal Garg along with Udhampur police raided the house of a man namely Jaipati Verman s/o Badar Verman r/o West Bengal at present living in Udhampur district, when they got the information that the accused is stealing valuable woods from the region’s forest and kept them in his rented house for smuggling.

On raiding the house of the accused in Udhampur, the police recovered 187 beams of valuable wood, two blades, one motor from his possession used in the commission of crime.

The accused has been identified as Jaipati Verman s/o Badar Verman r/o West Bengal        along with him Avinash Sharma a Forest Guard, Incharge officer, Dharia, Jammu and a Watcher Raj Singh,  who were involved with the burglar have been suspended.

A case FIR NO. 2/2023 was registered against the accused in Udhampur police station.

The investigating officers who conducted probe in this case were Range Officer, Mahesh Abrol, Range Officer Udhampur and DFO Rushal Garg.
