Protestors ended hunger strike in Jammu

Jammu: In a dramatic midnight denouement, the protestors in Samba ended their hunger strike for suspension of Sarore Toll plaza and other issues in Jammu.

The protestors broke their hunger strike at midnight yesterday in Samba when DC Samba, SSP Samba Benam Tosh including other officials went to the protestors and assured them that their demands will be resolved taking a period of week to work on the demands raised by them.

Talking to the media, one of the protestors said, “Our J&K transports union today observed Chaka Jam which ended at 2pm approximately.

“The transports talked with Divisional commissioner sir and they decided to stop their strike for a while.

“We have been informed that the govt has given 5 days time of period to work on our similar issues.

“After that the Div commissioner and DC sir came to us and called us. The authorities also told us that after a week they will tell their decision on our demands which will be in our interest.

“Our companions who sat in huger strike with us and all those people who supported us in this agitation have unitedly agreed that we will delay our strike for a week.

“If the govt didn’t consider our demands we will again sit on hunger strike”.
