Leopard’s presence sparks fear among locals in Jammu

Jammu:
The presence of a leopard in Jhakar village in Udhampur district of Jammu, has triggered panic amongst locals who told media that it has killed two goats in their village last night.

“The feline targeted two goats and killed them last night. Earlier we met the concerned department officials and they gave us 2-3 bombs.

“The forest department officials told us that they can only set a trap to catch the leopard and it is upon villagers to put whatever they want in the trap to lure the feline.

“The govt should tell us to shoot it if we catch the feline then what will the concerned authorities will do.

“We have suffered a loss of Rs 50,000 in this feline assault and we demand govt to pay us.

“We are so afraid to even let our children go out in the day”, said woman who lost her goats in the leopard attack.

“I feel sad that I lost my goats. The people here don’t have govt jobs and this is our only source of income”, added an elderly woman who own the goats.
