Jammu man falls victim to new kind of Cyber scam

Jammu:
A man from Jammu has alleged that he has fallen victim to a new kind of cyber scam being operated from China in which he has lost thirty thousand rupees.

According to the report, this latest fraud happened when a local man of Jammu was lured by Chinese online crooks for an online job, in which the fraudsters told the victim to promote and subscribe Youtube channels to earn money and robbed his money.

“The Chinese scammers will call you on Whatsapp then ask us about our work and bio-data.

“After that they lure us further and inform the victim about their company and offer us an opportunity to work online.

“When they asked me to work online for them I agreed. They told me that I will get Rs 1500-2000/ day.

“On the first day they send me links of Youtube channels and apprised me to like and subscribe them.

“When I completed the task they sent me a code and told me to share this code with their receptionist on Telegram and she transferred me Rs 150.

“After that the Chinese scammers added me in a Telegram group which had 1.4K subscribers.

“They gave me Rs 150 for completing three tasks. After these tasks they demanded money from me for a ‘merchant task’ to perform.

“and told me to invest money to give proof to the merchant that the employee is a genuine person.

“Then they gave me some option to invest the money for instance when if had invested Rs 1000 I would have got 1200 likewise for Rs 2800 for Rs 2000 and Rs7000 for Rs 5000.

“I gave them Rs 2000 and got back Rs 2800. When I asked the scammers how they are running this company they told me that they have a branch in Mumbai.

“When I called Mumbai branch nobody answered. Later I sent them Rs 5000 and they added me in another Telegram which had faces of Indians but actually they were foreigners.

“The receptionist told me to do another task and I paid them Rs 5000 and told me to send her withdrawal code. After which the group members told me there are more tasks and I gave them Rs 25000.

“At last I understood that they are scammers when they told me to complete a task of Rs 62,000 and I stopped doing tasks.

“I also sent them a phishing link when they opened it I saw that their IP address which showed a foreign country.

“Later some boys from Mumbai and Delhi states informed me about this scam on call”, narrated, the victim who fell prey to cyber-scam.
