Jammu: Road accident kills boy

Jammu: A 17-year-old tribal boy today died after a vehicle in which he was travelling fell in a deep gorge in Mandi Tehsil of Poonch district.

According to the sources, the mishap took place near Khawaja Peer Mattoo Ather Shah’s shrine in Poonch’s Mandi tehsil, when an unfortunate Tata mobile (JK11D8177) loaded with grass heading towards a Dhok skidded in a deep gorge, when it diverted its way from Mandi-Fagla road, where road repairing work was in progress & rocks blocked the way, due to which the vehicle took a unconcreted road and fell in a gorge.

After the mishap the injured boy evacuated and rushed to SDH Mandi where he was  pronounced brought dead by the doctors.

“We should be delivered justice as it’s all driver’s mistake as he took out the car and there was road construction work in progress ahead.

“There were live stock on the way and they went ahead and the vehicle fell in gorge. We were going to dhok and the vehicle was loaded with hay.

“We were four people the boy suffered wounds and he has died”, An occupant of the vehicle said.

The deceased boy have been identified as Mohd Arshad (17) s/o Mohd Aslam r/o Dana Dhakran village, Mandi Tehsil of Poonch.

After the incident the driver and his assistant ran away from the site of mishap leaving the four wounded persons behind.

An FIR 68-2023 U/S 279/337 has been registered at Poonch police station and a probe is on.
