J&K: Several Days on, Hundreds of stranded drivers ask for help

Hundreds of truckers alleged on Wednesday that they have been stranded at Qazigund bypass road on Jammu-Srinagar highway from past several days with no aid from of any sort from authorities.

They stated that truck traffic heading to Kashmir has been severely hampered, with scores of drivers stranded for 7-8 days. The highway’s traffic flow is slow and only one side of the road is open for vehicular movement, while they are not being allowed to move.

“We are stuck here at Qazigund bypass road from several days if they are allowing one convoy to pass through then why we’re not.

“We are stuck here from several days and have blocked road but no one came from the authorities to take stock of our situation” one of the trucker explained.

“All of us are facing injustice and we request to IG,DSP or whosoever is in authority to let us move. There is Eid also and I want to celebrate it with my family”, he added.

“The convoy of vehicles should be moved just like as it used to be earlier, one from this side of the road and one from that.

“Earlier the traffic management used to release small vehicles from 7am-12am now they’re going freely, then traffic jam will bound to happen here” another driver said.
