JKL chapter of FICCI FLO, the largest women-led chamber in South East Asia, has been making remarkable strides in empowering women in Jammu and Kashmir. With 19 chapters spread across India, FICCI FLO JKL has been working tirelessly to create a platform for women’s growth and development in the Union Territory.

This was stated by Varuna Anand, Chairperson FICCI FLO JKL while sharing the success of Cyclothon 2023 with a media person here today.

Varuna Anand highlighted the primary objective of FICCI FLO JKL as empowering women and encouraging their self-sufficiency & growth. Recognizing that every woman has a pivotal role to play in society, she said FICCI FLO JKL aims to provide support and opportunities for women to realize their full potential.

Varuna Anand said that there is a dire need to create an environment where women are encouraged and supported to pursue their dreams and aspirations. She stated, “FICCI FLO firmly believes in the potential of women and their ability to create a positive impact in society. We strive to provide a platform that empowers women to become self-reliant and play influential roles in various sectors.”

Varuna Anand informed that FICCI FLO JKL has recently conducted Cyclothon 2023 on the World Bicycle Day and distributed nearly 15 bicycles among the young girls of local government schools so that they can continue their education without any hurdle.

She informed that the 15 girls were identified during the programmes initiated by FICCI FLO JKL from time to time. She mentioned a particular incident when the JKL Chapter has organized a awareness programme on menstrual hygiene conducted at Govt MS Bhalwal. The Principal of Govt MS Bhalwal had shared that some girls had been covering nearly 16 kilometers daily, traveling back and forth for their education only. Recognizing their determination and commitment, FICCI FLO JKL decided to provide bicycles to such deserving girls, enabling them to continue their education with enhanced dedication.

A total of 15 bicycles were distributed to girls from various government schools , including HSS Bhalwal, HSS Gharota, Middle PS Amb, GHS Bhalwal, HSS Domana, and HSS Kot Bhalwal.

Varuna Anand emphasised the significance of foundational education for girls and underscored the importance of promoting self-reliance and empowerment among women. She highlighted how FICCI FLO JKL actively engaged in empowering women across various strata of society. The organisation is dedicated to providing comprehensive support and guidance to women, enabling them to realise their aspirations and attain personal and professional success. Through its initiatives, FICCI FLO JKL aims to create a conducive environment that equips women with necessary tools and resources to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.

She emphasized that FICCI FLO JKL remains dedicated to empowering women in Jammu & Kashmir, fostering an environment that nurtures and supports women to excel in every sphere of life.
