Jammu: Youth left studies to teach siblings, recounts struggles of being the eldest

Jammu: Being the eldest child in the family puts you in a unique position. Your life changes the day your parents introduce you to your younger sibling and from then onwards, you are always expected to do something for your siblings and family.
Suresh Singh, who is native of Billawar area of Kathua these days can be seen working in a shop Wave Mall in Narwal to aid his help and teach his younger brother and sister in his trying times.

It seems he is the only earning hand from his family which compelled him to leave his studies and find employment kilometers away rom his home to help his financially unsound family.

Conversing with the media, Suresh, said, ” It’s been a year since I started working here. I only studied till 12th class”.
“There was work in Billawar but I found good work here”, he added.
“I tried army’s recruitment twice”, he remarked smilingly.
“My sister studies in 11th class and brother in 8th class”, he said.
