Martyred officer from Jammu, cremated with military honors

 


Jammu:
Martyr Ankush Sharma of  Bishnah area of Jammu  was cremated with military honors at his native place in Shiv Nagri in Purmandal of Jammu yesterday. He was a commando of Navy’s elite MARCOS force, who martyred at Agra’s Airborne Training School on May 11, when his parachute got entangled in high-voltage power lines during a jumping exercise.

Petty officer Ankush Sharma was undergoing paratrooping training at the Airborne Training School located inside the Agra Air Force Station. The mishap took place in the Malpura drop zone.

As per report, Sharma jumped from an aircraft with the aid of a parachute. During the final seconds of the jump, he is said to have probably missed spotting the high-voltage power lines.

The mortal remains of the martyr reached his native village yesterday . A pall of gloom descended in the village when his mortal remains wrapped in tricolour arrived. His family members were inconsolable. Hundreds of villagers bid adieu to the martyr with moist eyes.
