“I just want my father back”: Martyr Neelam Singh’s Daughter

Jammu: A pall of gloom descended at Chak Kirpalpur Village in Akhnoor’s Jammu district as the family and the people of the village came to know that a son of the soil was among the five Army personnel martyred in a terror attack, during the security forces and J-K police joint operation ‘Trinetra’ to vanish terrorists in Kandi woods of Rajouri area on May 5.

On May 6th, the family as well as the villagers of martyr Neelam Singh of Chak Kirpalpur received their son’s body in decorated army vehicle amidst mourning and chants of the martyred son, which culminated in the cremation of the sacrificed soul with full army honours.

“He was my cousin brother we had good bond. Whenever there was some work he used to  handle on phone itself”, lamented Martyr Neelam Singh’s cousin brother.

“His nature was very good as a brother he fulfilled all his responsibilities”, he asserted.

“When his mother fell ill he took her to Chandigarh to provide her better treatment, he also solved many minor household matters”, he said.

“It made us sad when early morning we got a call that an encounter is going on in Rajouri”, he added.

“We had little information whether there is an encounter going on there, we knew there is a casualty but we don’t that was his”, he remarked.

“Around 9am we got information that his operation is being conducted, but around 11-11:30am we heard that he succumbed”, he bewailed.

“We’re waiting for his body it will reach here tomorrow”, he added.

“He was very proud of his country he had made up his mind to serve the country since from his childhood”, he claimed.

“In 2003-4 he got recruited as a commando in army’s 9 Para SF, he worked with many agencies and done many army operations”, he asserted.

“He has busted many terror hideouts in Kashmir, Poonch and Rajouri, he was known to familiar people. We’re very proud of him”, he shared.

“I don’t have the strength to speak but his behaviour was very good. He used to greet people with warmth”, Bewailed Martyr Neelam Singh’s Brother.

“He used to tell about his operations we are so proud of him, but the terrorists have done very wrong”, he said angrily.

“He is survived by two children, his daughter is sensible but his son is still young. After every 5 months or an year a terrorist attack takes place and destroys families”, he claimed.

“He was a cultured man, money is not enough to brought up kids. He dearly looked after his mother but now he has left us”, he said sobbing.

“When my father came he said that we have to construct the house”, Martyr’s Daughter said as tears rolled down her cheeks.

“I study in 5th class my father didn’t said anything. No, he didn’t used to call us as he wasn’t allowed to call”, she said crying.

“He only used to text us we gave him a missed call, but he didn’t replied”, she said wailing.

“I want nothing I just want my father back”, she said sobbing.
