Locals stage protest against water crisis in Jammu
Jammu: Many residents of Kalibari area of Kathua on Monday staged a protest against the PHE dept citing unavailability and shortage of drinking water in their ward no.16 from a long time.
Expressing their resentment against water crisis today, the people of Kalibari ward no.16 held a demonstration against the Jal Shakti Department. The protesters including men and women raised slogans against the Jal Shakti Department.

Talking to the media, one of the dissenters said, “In 1947 we came still water supply and pipes are not available for us, the DC sir has apprised the PHE dept to lay water pipes, but still no pipes have been laid here”.

“Two times the water pipes were sanctioned for us but they were laid in Shiva and Patel Nagar, which are less populated”, he alleged.
“But they have water pipes, where the money goes, we are not getting water supply here, how our kids will study cause we lack even basic facility”, he said.
“They should lay pipes here before giving us water, we are surviving on rain water and fetching it also from hospital”, he added.
“We’re being discriminated as no one is paying heed to our concerns, we will block road if our issue is not solved”, he warned.
“We’re drinking dirty water. We’re facing water crisis, our kids have no water to drink”, a local woman alleged.
