1 injure as vehicle catches fire in Jammu

 

Jammu: A man has sustain injuries after a tanker caught fire on Jammu-Pathankot National highway near Sakta Chak in Kathua on Saturday.

The report said that the incident happened when cement tanker parked on  the roadside on Jammu-Pathankot National highway abruptly caught fire, due to which its cabin and seats damaged, leaving its operator trivially hurt.

Soon, after the incident the locals as well as the fire tenders started a fire fighting operation and controlled the flames.

“Sir, I went to have tea and locked the vehicle’s cabin, suddenly fire broke out. I think due to short circuit in wires the blaze broke out”, said, Driver of the truck, Mr Roop Singh.

“I came from Ropar and was heading towards Kishtwar. The engine is safe but cabin and seats have suffered damage”, he added.

“The locals filled buckets with water from a water tank and doused the flames with fire tenders”, he remarked.

“I’m in charge of fire station kathua and we’re at the station. We got a call that a tanker has caught fire”, A Fire Tender, who came to control the fire said.

“We thought it would be massive fire but when we reached here we learned that it is cement-mixer”, he added.

“Its cabin and seats have been reduced to ash, while the driver has suffered minor injuries, it took 2-4 mins to brought the fire under control”, he further said.
