Locals show anger over Toilet built near ‘temple’ in Jammu

Jammu:
A toilet complex built by Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) near a temple in Green Belt area of Gandhi Nagar in Jammu has angered locals of the area, who are demanding the toilet building to be shifted somewhere else so that its presence next to the sanctum can’t hurt their religious sentiments.

The temple was built in the area 20 years ago, where Jagrans on annual basis use to be organised and a loo around such holy place is not tolerable to locals.

“Our today’s protest regarding the toilet which has been built adjacent to the temple, even when we make a house, we don’t make a temple next to a toilet in the house”, he added.

“This is a vip area and many come here we won’t tolerate a loo adjacent to a temple , a temple shouldn’t be constructed close to a toilet”, he remarked.

“We want the authorities to shift this loo from here so people’s religious feelings won’t get wounded”, he demanded.

“If they don’t then the protest will intensify with each passing day”, he asserted.

“The time was different when the loo building was constructed close to the sanctum as people were not aware and nobody took the cognizance”, he said.

“Some influential people might have used their power illegally and had made this loo near the sacred place”, he alleged.

“But today’s youth of Jammu are aware and they can differentiate between wrong and right”, he added.
