Smuggler beats Woman journalist in Jammu
Jammu: In a tragic incident a woman journalist was beaten by cow smuggler as a result of former’s protest and reporting against the beating and torture being inflicted upon the poor bovines in Bhagwati Nagar area of Jammu last night.
As per report, The incident happened when the journalist namely Samiksha late night yesterday heard some noise outside her house near the road at Bhagwati Nagar and when she went outside she noticed several cows on the road concealed in a group of buffaloes and on inquiring about their terrible condition the cow smuggler then assaulted her with a baton avoiding her questioning.

Talking to the media, Ms. Samiksha, the victim, said,” The incident happened on Wednesday at 12pm in night when we heard some noise outside our house”.

“Our house is on the road in Bhagwati Nagar near the police post. My husband and me went outside to check as we came out of our house.
“I saw several cows hidden in a circle of buffaloes who were being beaten ruthlessly by a boy”, she said.
“I started covering the incident on my mobile as I saw the cows in terrible plight many were badly wounded, some had broken horns and bleeding also”, she asserted.
“I asked the smuggler where you’re taking the cows he told me as they belonged him so they’re taking him wherever he wants”, she added.
“I asked him that he can take his cows without hurting them anywhere and on hearing this he hurled abuse at me”, she claimed.
“I again started recording his actions but then he hit me twice with a baton. He was taking the cows from one street to another”, she alleged.
“My husband was standing on the road side when he attacked me then a lady in a car informed my husband about me that a lady is being beaten by someone there”, she said.
“He ran towards me and people of our ward also came outside their houses hearing the commotion then he ran away”, she explained.
“I was going to police station and also called Koushal Sharma who rescues cow here as I was going there I again saw the cow smuggler but he fled”, she admitted.
“After that we rescued all the cows and I took them with me and next day at 10am I handed over the cows to police”, she added.
“The people of tribal community has thrashed reporters many times here”, she alleged.
“We are just doing our job and for that can people beat us”, she asked.
“An FIR has been registered at the police station and I have heard that the boy has been caught in Nagrota”, she said.
“I appeal to police to fast track their inquiry against cow smugglers here as this is not case single there are 1000’s of bovines, who use to be smuggled on daily basis to Kashmir”, she appealed.
