Jammu: Several years on, This village is without electricity
Jammu: Residents of Dedhni village in Doda District of Jammu have been without electricity from past several years as locals expressed resentment over the negligence of power development department due to unavailability of power.
The villagers has said that they use lighted wood sticks and candles, lanterns to do household work.Many people go to nearby areas where there is electricity to charge their mobile phones and to even make a call.

“We get electricity for a very short period of time here,we have no electric poles, no power to do our work”, said, Ms. Sakeena, a villager.
“Its been a decade still we don’t have electricity here. We are without power”, said, Ms. Nazia Bano, another villager.
“No one visits our village to gauge our electricity crisis, employees of Power dept like linemen, inspector don’t come here to check whether we have electricity or not”, she added.
“The people in this village are poor and we are facing harships”, she remarked.
“We are only receiving electricity bills every month but no light. We have to lit wood to check light in our bulbs”, she alleged.
“We have to travel nearby areas to charge our phones and to call someone”, she claimed.
“We appeal govt to provide us electricity as we can’t teach our kids without light, there are wooden poles here but they’re not electrified”, she said.
