Ā  Ā  Ā  Shocking: School students forced to drink water meant for cattle in Jammu

Jammu: Students of Government High school Markanar village in RajouriĀ  are forced regularly to walk about 2kms to drink water from a drainage in which the cattle of the village is also seen quenching their thirst from the same water source.

Several students of GHS MarkanarĀ  were seen shouting slogans against the PHE department Rajouri for the water supply in their school.

“This is what we are drinking. We went to DC Rajouri Vikas Kundal and who told SE Jal Shakti Rajouri to deploy a PHE employee here to ensure water supply for theĀ  students here, but no one came”, one of the protestors said.

“The water pipe line is here since fifty years and we have also bought pipes with our money, but we lack a PHE worker here to ensure us water supply” he added.

“This is shamefulĀ  that no one from the PHE dept came here even after DC sirĀ  told the dept to send someone” another protestor said.

“It is tough for the students to travel two kilometers everyday to quench their thirst and I request DC sir to please send someone here so that students can drink clean water”, he added.

“The buffaloes drink for the same source of water from where our students drink, I appeal DC sir to pay heed to this matter”, he said.
