Four persons of a family were killed when their car rammed into a container near Falke Mala at Karegaon (Shirur taluka) on the Pune-Ahmednagar highway. A four-year-girl is among the deceased. The car driver was seriously injured in the mishap which took place at 12.30 pm.
The deceased have been identified as Sudam Shankar Bhondve (66), Sindhutai Sudam Bhondve (60), Kartiki Ashwin Bhondve (32) and Anandi Ashwin Bhondve (4), all residents of Domri village, Patoda taluka, Beed district. Ashwin Sudam Bhondve (35) was injured in the accident. Ashwin was driving the car and he is being treated at a private hospital in Karegaon. According to the police, Ashwin Bhondve was going to Chakan in his Indica car (MH 12 EM 2978) with his parents Sudam and Sindhutai, wife Kartiki and daughter Anandi because some people were going to visit his brother-in-law’s house regarding his marriage.
Their car rammed into a container (MH 43 BG 2776) which was parked near Phalke Mala. Ashwin was seriously injured and his parents and daughter died on the spot. PI of Ranjangaon MIDC police station Balwant Mandge rushed to the spot accompanied by Brahma Pawar, Santosh Auti and Vilas Ambekar after he was informed about the incident. The car which had been crushed by the container, was pulled out by using a crane and extracted the bodies and the injured driver with the help of local residents. The traffic on the road was disrupted for some time after the mishap but it was normalised after the police shifted the car and the container by using a crane.
The car was reduced to rubble because of the mishap. Sudam Bhondve, Sindhutai Bhondve and Anandi who were trapped in the car, died on the spot. Kartiki was seriously injured and died while being taken to Nagar for treatment. Ashwin Bhondve was seriously injured and is being treated in a private hospital in Karegaon.
