Families out for Shivaratri procession, thieves loot their house in Jammu

Jammu: Three families have been left poorer for attending the Shivaratri procession, yesterday in Jammu. Thieves decamped with cash and gold jewellery worth around lakhs from three houses in Qasim Nagar, Jammu, yesterday.

As per report, the thefts took place when the family members of these houses had gone out to see Shivaratri procession outside their house in Qasim Nagar, Jammu.

“We went outside our home for just ten minutes to watch Shivaratri’s procession and when we returned we found our almirah forced open with a rod and the thieves had taken away our gold and silver ornaments, belonging to our mother and father”, Victim woman whose house looted by thieves said sobbing.

“We are migrants and the burglar even stole our monthly relief cash given by govt, our father is no more and neither we have a brother, we gathered all this with hard labour”, she added.

“They have even targeted our tenants”, she said.

“I have no husband and son, what to say the burglars have robbed us”, Victim’s mother said.

“How we will run our household”, a woman said sobbing.

“In just 20-25 the robbers cleaned the house and  the thieves might be from our ward”, a man present at the crime scene said.

“The thieves have targeted another house here. When we entered in our house we didn’t suspect anything, but she had suspicion and then we saw our almirah broken”, another  woman of the house said.

“Please recover our gold ornaments and cash from the burglars, we made all this jewellery after hard labour”,  a woman said  while sobbing.

“We also went to watch the procession and they have stolen our 4-5 tolas of gold, they have taken all the jewellery”, another victim woman said.

“The thieves were about to open our bed to steal, but they escaped as soon they heard us
at the house gates”, another woman said.
