JK Media’s report Impact; Doctor suspended over death of pregnant animal in Jammu

Jammu: Facing heat over yesterday’s death of a pregnant sheep at Govt Veterinary centre, Pakhiwala in Akhnoor ,Jammu, the Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Jammu, today suspended a veterinary doctor for alleged dereliction of duty.
As per report, Director Sheep Husbandry Jammu Krishan Lal through an order suspended Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr Aastha Sharma, who was in- charge of Pakhiwala Veterinary centre, in connection of her continuous absence from the duty in the mentioned centre, which yesterday also resulted in death of a pregnant sheep and which has drawn flak.

The action was taken when Mr Gopal Das resident of Akhnoor, Jammu, allegedly appeared before JK Media and said how his pregnant sheep died due to medical negligence at the aforementioned vet centre, where he went there to get it check.

Mr Gopal Das has allegedly told the media that when he went at the veterinary centre the attendants there kept his ailing sheep on wait and were kept on saying that the on duty doctor would come anytime to treat his labouring sheep, but, according to Das she never showed up.
Later, he took his ailing sheep to veterinary centre in SKUAST R.S Pura, Jammu, and where he faced the same negligent conduct of the on-duty doctors, due to which his sheep died.

As per the order issued by Directorate of Sheep Husbandry Jammu here, Sharma was suspended under the J&K Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1956 for her absence from the duty and she is now transferred to veterinary centre Khour, and in her place Veterinary Assistant Surgeon Dr Sakshi Gupta has been posted there.
