Thief snatches 50K from elderly man in Jammu
Jammu:Â In a shocking incident, a thief allegedly snatched 50K from an elderly man outside a bank in Satwari, Jammu, yesterday.
As per report, the incident happened when the victim was going home after withdrawing his pension from the bank and then a burglar came & snatched it saying that victim’s currency is fake and he has to submit it in the bank.

The victim is a resident of Beaspur of Arnia, Jammu.

Mr Shyamlal, the victim, said, “I left the bank after withdrawing 50,000 of my pension and crossed the road, then a man came running from behind and told me that my cash is counterfeit and it has to be submitted to the bank”.
“The burglar told me that he is a bank employee and I have to go along with him to return the cash to the bank as it is bogus”, he said.
“I told him that I will come along with him as he don’t know him, but as soon I took out the wad to check it whether it is bogus money or not, the burglar snatched it from my hands & ran away”, he added.
“He was surveying I think he even knew my name and he called me from behind when I was leaving the bank”, he further said.
“He came here yesterday in the morning to withdraw his money from the bank usually he takes minimum amount of cash from bank, but yesterday he withdraw this amount to deposit it in his other account”, Relative of the victim said.
“We have told him many times to transfer his account to other bank, but he says he also meets our relatives who lives nearby”, he added.
“He left the house at 9:30am and this incident happened with him around 11am”, he said.
“I have register a case at the police station against the burglar. I also went to the police station & checked the CCTV footage but the thief didn’t appear in the video”, Mr Shyamlal said.
