Jammu: Thieves arrested, stolen items worth more than 80K recovered

Police claimed to have solved a theft case in Katra town that took place last week and recovered the stolen items besides arresting two accused.

In this regard, a case FIR Number 26/2023, under Section 379/IPC was registered at Police Station Katra on dated January 22, 2023, according to which some unidentified thieves had taken away mobile phones and one brass statue worth more than Rs 80,000.

Acting on the complaint, Police team swung into action and suspects were rounded up, who confessed their involvement in the theft case. The accused were identified as Joginder Sharma, son of Isher Dass of Salal, Reasi and Vinod Kumar, son of Om Parkash of Babbar, Dera Baba Reasi.

On their disclosure, Police team recovered the stolen property, which included six mobile phones and one brass statue. Further investigation in the case was going on to unearth involvement of the accused in other theft cases in the district.

The successful operation was led by SHO PS Katra, Nishant Gupta under the supervision of SDPO Katra, Surinder Baloria.
