Jammu: A woman reportedly meets with accident when she broke traffic Naka at Jewel chowk in Jammu on Wednesday.

The traffic police laid a naka at Jewel today and was invoicing defaulters there, then a woman came on a scooty , who was fleeing away met with an accident midway on the road.

“We were just doing our job here, and after checking her documents we would have left the vehicle. But she was trying to drive away and got hit by a car”, a traffic police personnel in-charge said.

The number of road accidents across Jammu and Kashmir in 2020 was around five thousand. Traffic discrepancies have been a major source of death, injury and damage to property every year.

In 2020, over-speeding of vehicles was the main reason for road accident casualties. India ranked first out of 200 reported in World Road Statistics that year for the number of road accident deaths.
