Cold wave and cold day conditions are likely to abate over northwest India after 48 hours as the new western disturbance arrives on the night of January 10, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Sunday.

Dense to very dense fog conditions over many parts of Jammu Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar will continue over the next 48 hours.

09 Jan (Day 2): ♦ Dense to very dense fog very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Bihar. Dense fog in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, north Madhya Pradesh, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Assam & Meghalaya and Mizoram & Tripura.

♦ Cold wave conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and Telangana.

♦ Cold day to severe cold day conditions very likely in some parts of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Cold day conditions in isolated pockets over north Rajasthan and Bihar.

♦ Ground frost conditions very likely in isolated pockets over south Haryana, north Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh and north Madhya Pradesh.

10 Jan (Day 3): ♦ Dense fog very likely in isolated pockets over Jammu division, Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, north Rajasthan, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Assam & Meghalaya and Tripura.

♦ Cold day conditions very likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

11 Jan (Day 4): ♦ Dense fog likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.

12 Jan (Day 5): ♦ Dense fog likely in isolated pockets over Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh & Delhi and Uttar Pradesh
