As the Bharat Jodo Yatra led Shri Rahul Gandhi is expected to enter Jammu and Kashmir from Lakhanpur on January 22, the Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee on Thursday reviewed the preparations and appealed to everyone for support for the event.
“This is the biggest such event of its kind and nature post independence, having greater significance, in Jammu and Kashmir, said media incharge and Chairman of the committee, Ravinder Sharma.
He was flanked by senior Leaders of media departament including Dr Rashid Chaudhary, Kapil Singh, Dr Jhangeev Sirwal, Sahil Sharma, Bilal Rashid, Rajiv Saraf and Bhavishya Sudan.
Sharma said that the detailed schedule of the Yatra for J&K is being worked out in consultation with the concerned agencies especially security agencies but the Yatra is expected to reach Lakhanpur on January 22.
Extending cooperation to the media for the due discharge of their duties, JKPCC has assured țo share all relevant Information from time to time for their use in the better interests of the public.
Sharma said that large number of senior AICC leaders and several senior Leaders from different states are likely to join Rahul Gandhi during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in J&K, besides thousands of Leaders and workers from all over country and Jammu and Kashmir. Several other prominent leaders and personalities from different shades of opinion and walks of life have already announced or are expected to join.
Lauding the significant role of media in the most difficult periods in Jammu and Kashmi, Sharma said media in Jammu and Kashmir has always tried to maintain a balanced approach and objectivity while discharging its duty towards the public.
Earlier chairing a meeting, media committee and party Spokespersons, Ravinder Sharma stressed upon the party colleagues and workers to render all possible assistance and timely information, from time to time to the media community for the performance of their duties.
“Keeping in view the cold weather and difficult climatic conditions, its the responsibility of all partymen to attend to the genuine needs and assistance of the media men, who are the friends of society,” he said.
He said that the Bharat Jodo Yatra is likely to culminate in Srinagar, on January 30, the martyrdom day of Mahatma Gandhi, as per tentative schedule, however it is yet to be finalised.
