Jammu, December 26, 2022: Scores of Anganwadi workers staged a protest amid heavy police deployment on Monday at the Press Club in Jewel, Jammu against the recently approved HR policy by the administration for female Anganwadi Workers (AWWs) and Helpers working in the Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS).
The protestors were shouting slogansĀ like ‘We will fight for our rights, ‘we are not begging but demanding our rights’ against the local and the central government.

Speaking to the media Mrs Roshu Sharma President and General Secretary (AWWA) allegedly said that they want a comprehensive retirement policy for the Anganwadi workers and Helpers from the local administration and demand Rs 5 lakh for ‘Anganwadi workers’ and Rs 3 lakh for the department ‘Helpers’ on retirement.
“The govt boasts about ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padao’ butĀ does nothing for the woman’s on ground, we have been agitating from months and it has not moved LG regime. They our retiring us at the age of sixty without any money, they are sending us empty-handed to our homes on retirement”, she said.
Another protestor said that they have served 40-50 years for the department and now they are being treated unfairly for their services.
