Jammu, December 13, 2022: A cybercriminal disguised as a customer care agent of Reliance Jio has duped a man of Rs 2 lakh in Jammu, yesterday.
Receiving the call, the cyberfraudster impersonated himself as a customer care agent of Reliance Jio-sim company and managed to obtain all personal information from the victim before defrauding him of Rupees Two lakh , as per the report
“At 3pm I received a text on my mobile phone from Jio which reads that my sim services are going to expire and I have to update my ‘Know Your Customer’ (KYC) to continue the sim-services, after that the fraudster told me to open My jio application in my mobile to recharge my phone. From the time he told me to open the app in my mobile Rupees 980000 twice had been deducted from my bank account. These are unemployed youth who have made a gang here in Jammu to ransacked local people”, the victim said.
He further said that when he suspected that he has been duped by a cyber-scammer, he immediately blocked all his ATM cards of various banks to further stop money deductions from his bank accounts.
“There are many people like me who have become victims of these cyberfraudsters as just now when I went to the Cyber Police Station to lodge my complaint there, I met a man who was duped of eighty lakh rupees. I urged the local people here to come forward in the media and put pressure on the local administration to take action against such criminals who loot people.
