Jammu, 13 Nov, 2022: The Kathua police on Sunday organised third ‘Half Marathon Race’ at Kathua sports stadium in Jammu in collaboration with some local organisers. Earlier, on Saturday the Kathua district police distributed t-shirts to the local youths and also to those who came from other regions such as Kashmir and states like Punjab and Himachal Pradesh to participate in the marathon race in Kathua.
As per the report, the marathon was flagged off at 5:30am in the morning from Kathua sports stadium, today.
Several young runners participated in this event and along with them elder citizens were also seen running with them in the marathon.
The event’s main tagline was ‘Run for Health’ and ‘Stay away from Drugs’.
A Kathua police official informed the media in press conference that they have organised this marathon here in Kathua to give message to the young people to keep themselves away from substance abuse and to participate in such sports activities so that they can save themselves from the menace of drug abuse which is growing its roots in J&k.
“We will organise such programs for the young ones in future also. This event was our first step keeping in mind the ‘Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan’ launched by J&K UT govt recently to make this place drug free”,he said.
