Kathua, November 10,2022: The Construction Workers Union Kathua on Thursday held agitation in favour of their demands in Kathua,Jammu.
Shouting slogans against the govt and the construction companies which is employing daily wagers from other states , the anguished labourers expressed their demands to the media.
One of the protestors allegedly said that several construction works has been going in Jammu in which the construction companies are employing labourers from other states denying employment to local daily wagers of Jammu.
He further said that the local workers of Jammu are suffering cause they are not being employed.Adding he said, “Our state ranks first in unemployment and our people are jobless they should be given work.Earlier, National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) constructed a bridge in Samba in which they didn’t hired local labourers. We just want from the govt to give first priority to locals”.
Another agitator allegedly said that from last two months they are approaching the Deputy commissioner office in Kathua but they got no solution for their concerns.
“Yesterday we met DC sir who also agreed that locals should be given first priority in jobs”.On one side the govt is conducting employment melas(fairs) and on the other side we are sitting here jobless”,he said.
