Intelligence agencies have sounded alert in Jammu and warned of terror attacks on locals, politicians, and ex-servicemen by militant outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), India Today reported.
According to the intelligence report available with Aaj Tak / India Today, government forces have tracked the movement of a local militant and two Pakistani LeT militants in the Baramulla area of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the alert, the targets of the militants are political leaders and people living outside Jammu and Kashmir along with ex-servicemen.
The intelligence units have said the militants might use hand grenades or IEDs for the attacks.
The report quoted the DGP Jammu Kashmir Dilbag Singh as saying, “The Resistance Front (TRF), a LeT outfit, issues threats from time to time. The latest threat, which has been in circulation since yesterday, mentions that the police should be targeted on a large scale, along with people who are involved in different positive activities with the government,” he said.
“Time and again they have been engaged in nefarious acts. Legal action is also being taken against those who make such threats. Those who join such people are mostly informers at the local level,” he said.
“If someone tries to target non-locals, politicians, they will not succeed. Jammu Kashmir Police is fully prepared,” he said.
