Banihal Police arrested three persons including a lady along with contraband substances.
As per official sources, a team from Police Station Banihal during checking at T Chowk intercepted a tempo traveller bearing registration number JK02DA-4087.
During checking, police team recovered three bags containing 23 kilograms of poppy straw from the possession of a lady passenger and arrested her.
The arrested lady was identified as Amarjit Kour, wife of Jagtar Singh of Latiwala, Mothanwala Kapurthala Punjab.
Meanwhile, the similar team from Police Station Banihal during checking at T Chowk intercepted a Tavera bearing registration number JK03-D-3072 which was on its way from Srinagar towards Jammu.
During checking, police team recovered 650 grams of cannabis from the possession of the driver and his accomplice and arrested them.
The arrested driver was identified as Ahsan Rashid Wani, son of Abdul Rashid Wani of Sransoo Qazigund Anantnag and Aabid Hussain Shah, son of Abdul Rashid Shah of Seherpora Tehsil Dooru District Anantnag.
Cases under relevant sections have been registered at Police Station Banihal and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Banihal Inspector Mohd Afzal Wani made the arrests under the supervision of SDPO Banihal Nisar Ahmed Khoja and SP Ramban Mohita Sharma.
