One more person died of dengue in Jammu and Kashmir, taking the death toll due to the vector-borne disease in this season to ten while as 5,131 people have been found positive for this dreaded disease till date in the Union Territory.
Giving information about the recent death, a Health official said that an 80-year-old female belonging to Bishnah area of Jammu succumbed to dengue fever yesterday in Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu.
He informed that as on date, tests of 16,491 people have been conducted for dengue virus, of which 5,131 turned out positive for the virus. He said that 4,101 cases have been reported alone from Jammu district, followed by 435 from Udhampur, 179 from Samba, 118 from Doda, 86 from Reasi, 73 from Kathua, 54 from Rajouri, 31 from Ramban, 23 from Poonch and 14 from Kishtwar district.
In Kashmir region, the official said only 6 positive cases have been reported so far while 11 cases of locals were reported from other states/UTs. He further informed that a total of 363 tests for Dengue were conducted today in the Union Territory and out of these 126 were found positive with 112 cases reported from Jammu district, 6 from Udhampur, 5 from Rajouri and 1 each from Samba, Doda and Kishtwar districts.
Giving figures of dengue cases reported from the UT in last 7 days, the official said said 206 people were found positive for dengue on October 23, 91 on October 24, 37 on October 25, 164 on October 26, 57 on October 27 and 135 on October 28.
