While raising slogans against the Central as well as J&K Government, the protesting OBC people demanded implementation of 27% reservation for OBCs in J&K Government services as suggested by 1992 Mandal Commission report.

One of the protestors allegedly told the media that today many of their organizations came together to oppose the recent order of local regime in which they extended reservation to fifteen such caste groups, who according to them has been privileged and who should not be included in ‘Other Backward Classes’ category.

“Recently J&K govt passed an order in which they extended 15% reservation to ‘West Pakistani Refugees’, which is not even a caste group and along with them they have extended this benefit to people from Acharya and Brahmin castes, who are already taking advantages of recently implemented 10% ‘Economically Weaker Section’ (EWS) reservation and they will also exploit the benefits of our OBC community”, he said.

He further said that the Central govt’s 1992 Mandal commission 27% reservation for OBC’s still not implemented to J&K. Adding he said, ” they will not give votes to BJP if 27% reservation is not implemented for their community and they will make sure that BJP should lose in the coming elections just like other political parties in J&K”.

“If we are not granted our twenty seven  reservation right, we will then think of religion conversion as this choice is granted by our constitution from Articles 25-28. We will convert to Buddhism just like Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar or we will convert to Islam cause J&K is also a Muslim majority place”, he said.
