Kathua, October 19, 2022: In a tragic incident, a man drowned in Ujj canal while rescuing his children from drowning in the canal in Jasrota village in Kathua district, Jammu on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the canal when the deceased Shashi Pal Singh, who was working as a police officer, went to take bath along with the children.

As per the report, one of the kid slipped in the canal after which the other child jumped into the canal to save him from drowning ,but unfortunately both of them swept towards deep waters of the water body. Sensing danger, their father managed to save his children but he got submerged.
“He went there for bathing when a kid mistakenly slipped in the canal and after that the other kid dived in it to save him, but he also got stuck there then their father went after them to save them from drowning. He saved them but drowned there,” Mr Vikram Singh relative of the deceased said.
The locals fished out his body after strenuous search from the canal.
Later, he was pronounced dead by the doctors at GMC Kathua on arrival.
