The Power amnesty scheme which was approved by the Administrative Council headed by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha few days back is invoking huge response among consumers. The decision was taken by the Administrative Council in view of domestic consumers not being able to avail the benefits of last scheme due to spread of COVID-19 pandemic during the scheme period.

MD JPDCL Shiv Anant Tayal disclosed that as soon as the bill distribution process for Amnesty Scheme -22 started, people realised that the government has extended huge benefit by waiving off the interest and surcharge portion of the billed amount upto March-2022.

Rano Devi a resident of Preet Nagar told that her Billing I’d is 0102021009519 and she has got a benefit of Rs. 1,12,430 because of the Amnesty Scheme. Her total outstanding has now reduced to Rs.33400.

There are various examples where 75% of the total outstanding amount has been waived off as part of Amnesty Benefit extended by the Government. A total of Rs.2.85 Lacs has been received by the Government on the very first day of the Bill Distribution which shows that people have shown overwhelming interest towards the Amnesty Scheme which has been extended by the Government.

All the Sub-divisions across Jammu Province have started the billing and distribution process. The Sub-divisional staff of Gangyal in the presence of AEE Nitin Mahajan, AE Rajesh Sharma and AE Keshav Khajuria today distributed bills to consumers who are major beneficiaries of Amnesty Scheme and are very enthusiastic about the scheme.
