Kashmir is going to be connect with Kanyakumari through rail link next year, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha said on Monday.
Addressing the 4th edition of Heli-India Summit here at SKICC, Srinagar today organized by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Government of India, Lieutenant Governor said “Kashmir will be connected through railways with KanyaKumari next year which will pave the way for the progress and prosperity of the Union Territory in a big way”.
He said the connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir remains a big issue alway. However, after the abrogation of article 370 in August 5, 2019 the issue has been addressed by the various schemes and plans of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
“Jammu and Kashmir is progressing now in road connectivity, railways and air connectivity by every aspect”, he said.
The Lieutenant Governor said today there are about 1 lakh crore projects under way for making of highways and tunnels which are going on in Jammu and Kashmir.
He said the progress and development in Jammu and Kashmir was not comparable in other UTs or states of the country earlier, but today it is flourishing like it’s beautiful natural beauty all across.
He said since the independence there were only 15,000 cr outside investment in Jammu and Kashmir, but since the government of India brings a news industrial scheme there are 56,000 cr investment proposal lying at present and out of which 38,000 cr investments have been passed. He said in the coming few months the others will be also get done by the government.
He said a record number of 1.61 Cr tourists visited Jammu and Kashmir since January this year which is the highest number in last 25 years.
He urged the Service providers to see the potential of Heli tourism in Jammu and Kashmir for that the government will provide all help for its success.
He also urged the industry captains to see the business potential in this beautiful part of the India and turn it into a reality with becoming the partners of the government so that Jammu and Kashmir will further usher progress.
