JAMMU: Shiv Sena Jammu and Kashmir unit today staged vigorous protest against the unbridled inflation. In this context, Shiv Sena activists led by Manish Sahni, President J&K Shiv Sena assembled near Press Club Jammu and raised slogans against the ruling government at the Centre, seeking relief.

Talking to reporters, Manish Sahni said that there has been an outcry due to recession. Bread, clothes, house, health, education everything is becoming out of reach for the common people. After flour, ghee-mustard oil, the prices of vegetables are also touching the sky.

Along with nutrition, the taste of vegetables has also been out from the plate of the coman man. “The cost of cauliflower (Gobi) which was Rs 20 to 25 per kg has gone up to Rs 80 per kg, while the cost of green beans has reached Rs 120 per kg. The prices of vegetables become costlier than fruits.

Sahni maintained that the vegetable vendors are also upset with the increased prices as the customers are turning their backs on vegetables and buying vegetables with hardly a pound instead of a kilo. The situation is that along with vegetables, free green chili and coriander has to be bought, he added.

Sahni took a jibe at the government’s apathy towards inflation and said that the government, the poor who are giving up on giving 5 kg of free food grains. Sahni said that the Modi Govt should focus on providing relief to the common man more than taking a dig at the Hindu Muslim religion caste and the working practices of the previous governments.
