PDP president Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday hit out on Bharatiya Janata Party over the appointment of Manoj Sinha as Lieutenant Governor of the union territory.
“They (BJP) said to the people of Jammu that they will make a CM from Jammu. BJP could have made a Lieutenant Governor (LG) from Jammu but instead, they made the LG of Jammu and Kashmir from Uttar Pradesh. Didn’t anyone from Jammu deserve to be the LG?” Mufti asked.
Senior BJP leader and former telecom minister Manoj Sinha was appointed as LG of Jammu and Kashmir in August 2020. On August 7, he was sworn in as the new lieutenant governor of Jammu and Kashmir, the first political leader to take charge of the union territory. He succeeded former IAS officer Girish Chandra Murmu.
