Udhampur, August 26, 2022: A police officer was arrested of allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman in Ramnagar area of Udhmapur, Jammu Yesterday.
As per the sources, the accused has been identified as Vijay Sharma assistant police sub-inspector (ASI) who was stationed at Ramnagar police station and reportedly use to rape the mentioned woman at her house.
The woman is a resident of Resali Thakrai village in Ramnagar, Udhampur.

It has been reported that the said woman was earlier eloped with a man from her village to Himachal Pradesh in order to avoid domestic violence which receives constantly in her house, after which a missing report was registered by the victim’s husband in Ramnagar police station and then the victim’s matter for investigation was handed over to the mentioned police officer, who reportedly raped her.
According to the report, the Jammu High Court asked the woman to appear before the court regarding her case and when she appeared before the court, the presiding Judge ordered that the woman to be shifted to a local Nari Niketan, where her statements should be recorded.
Furthermore reportedly there at the Nari Niketan she recorded her ordeals to the police in which she accused her husband of killing her six month toddler along with that also accused the ASI of raping her at her house with some other masked man, who came with him.
The victim also revealed in her statements that she don’t feel secure here cause of which she eloped deserting her husband’s house and simultaneously she also fear that the local police will get her killed.
She has further revealed in her statements to the police that the accused ASI Vijay Sharma use to take money from her drunkard husband.
While taking cognizance of the matter the accused ASI has been arrested under Sections 376,301 of the IPC and along with that her husband has also been arrested under relevant sections 301,302 of the IPC.
“This is a very shameful act which happened here in Udhampur, the police is suppose to secure the people not rape them and this ASI use to take bribe from the local people here by illegally using his authority”, Sunil Ramnagar panchayat Sarpanch said.
He further said that due to constant threats by the police officer the woman was afraid to register her case and today he is feeling happy that the SSP Udhampur arrested the accused by setting an example for the police dept.
