As many as 12 cases of dengue have been reported in four districts in Jammu Division of the Union Territory, a health official here said.
A senior official in the State Malaria Department said that 12 cases of Dengue are reported from Jammu, Udhampur, Kathua and Samba districts.
“Last year, dengue cases were reported in the month of September but this time, due to the timely arrival of monsoon, the cases have been reported across the Jammu region,” said the official.
“An awareness campaign is being carried out across the region to educate people on how to prevent breeding of mosquitoes during monsoon season,” he said.
Notably, in the year 2013, the highest, 1338 people were affected by dengue followed by 226 cases in 2017.
Last year, more than 1000 dengue cases were reported across the region with the highest number of 1018 cases in Jammu district while 300 cases in Kathua, 120 each in Udhampur and Samba districts.
