Jammu, 18 August: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday issued the following statement regarding the death of six persons in Sidhra area of Jammu.

“Today on 16/08/2022, at around 10 pm, a telephonic call was received from a lady namely Shahzada D/O Habbibullah Bhat R/O H.No 900 Bhat House, Barzulla Srinagar, regarding suspicion that her brother namely Noor Ul Habib is not picking up her calls and she has apprehension that he might have committed suicide.
On this information Police parties of PP Sidhra and PS Nagrota headed by IC PP Sidhra SI Majid Hussain and SHO Nagrota Insptr Vishav Partap rushed to the spot and found that the doors of the said house were bolted from inside.
During the close observation, it was found that a foul smell was emanating from the house and the doors of the house were forcibly broke open in presence of civil witnesses ( locals of Tawi Vihar Colony Sidhra).
It was found by the Police party that the dead bodies are lying in the said house.
On this a team of FSL and Photographers of Crime section of PCR were called in for the probe into the Inquest proceedings started there of.
Prima facie it appears to be a case of poisoning, though it has to be ascertained whether it is a case of forced poisoning or otherwise. While cannulas have been found near the bodies of the victims.
The locals of the area informed that the dead 4 dead bodies are of, Noor ul Habib S/O Habib Ullah, Sakina Begum Wd/O Ghulam Hassan, Sajad Ahmed S/O Farooq Ahmed Magray and Nassema Akhter D/O Ghulam Hassan.
They also informed that there is another house which belongs to who is one of the deceased and the police party went there and opened the doors and found that 2 more dead bodies of Rubina Bano D/O Gh Hussain and Zafar Salim S/O Gh Hussain, are lying in that house.
Similar in-depth probe has started at this place also so as to ascertain the cause as well as motive behind the casualties and to find the reasons for the same.
Senior Police Officers including SSP Jammu Chandan Kohli IPS also rushed to the spot and directed for thorough probe into the incident.
He said dead bodies have been shifted to GMC Jammu for autopsy and shall be handed over to the legal heirs after medico legal formalities
He further informed that a SIT headed by Sanjay Sharma SP Rural, Pardeep Kumar SDPO Nagrota, Inspector Vishav Partap SHO Nagrota and SI Majid Hussain IC PP Sidhra has been formed so as to interrogate the matter.

While the family members of the deceaseds have also appeared in the media and have wailed for the help from the local administration so that their family members can be deliver justice.
