J&K, 15 August: The policeman who was injured in a gunfight in Srinagar’s downtown on Sunday evening has succumbed, the police said.

In a “chance” gunfight in Nowhatta in the evening, one policeman and a terrorist were injured. The policeman has been identified as Ct Sarfaraz Ahmad, a resident of Batote, Ramban.

“We pay rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty,” the police said in a tweet.

“Police personnel namely Ct Sarfaraz Ahmad R/O Batote Ramban who was injured yesterday during an anti-terrorist operation, succumbed to his injuries & attained martyrdom. We pay rich tributes to the martyr for his supreme sacrifice made in the line of duty”, the j&k police tweet reads.

Police on Sunday said that the vehicle used by two terrorists, associated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was seized while one rifle and two grenades have also been recovered in Nowhatta area of Srinagar.

As per the report the police said in a tweet that vehicle (scooter) used by two LeT terrorists has been seized from the incident site.
