Several retired police personnel in Jammu held protest demonstration in favour of their demands, today. The protest was organised under the banner of J&K retired police welfare forum.
A protestor allegedly said that they have been pushing their demands from a long time and in 1996 when the pay grades in the police department were revised the Additional sub-inspectors along with head constables were not included.

“The central govt from time to time introduced various pay commissions revising the pay level of the govt employees whether on service/retired but our pension allowance was not revised and we are still receiving the monthly pension at old rates”, he said.
Continuing he said that their forum also submitted a writ in the high court whose judgement came out in their favour but at that time National conference (NC) was ruling in the state, who implemented the revised allowances but the benefits were extended only to the on-duty police personnel in the state and not to us, the retired ones.
“Today we gather here to show our furore against the government so that anomalies regarding our pension can attract local govts attention because the former govts just ignored us and we found no remedy to our solution and everyone is aware that the J&K police personnel has sacrificed so many lives fighting against the terrorism along with serving the country but today the govt has abandoned us, while the central govt recently hiked the monthly medical insurance to 3000 thousand per month of retired employees but here we are still receiving only 300 hundred rupees, we demand the local administration to pay heed to our concerns and revise our monthly pension allowance according to the present allowance rate at the earliest “, another protestor added.
