Udhampur, 4 August: Police on Thursday claimed that 250gm heroin and cash of over one crore rupees was recovered from two persons in Udhampur and one of the two got killed in the accident when he tried to flee from the police.
A police man said that they were on patrolling duty near Gole mela patrol pump in Udhampur when they noticed two persons moving in a suspicious manner there and on seeing them they ran towards the road to escape the deployed police posse.
while one of the two suspects who was running away from the police was knocked down by an unknown vehicle and sustained fatal injuries, he added.
He further informed that they immediately shifted the injured person to District Hospital from where he was referred to GMC Jammu and during the treatment he succumbed to his injuries.
He has been identified as Mukhtiar Ahmed son of Khalil ur Rehman of Prada Tangdhar Kupwara while his other accomplice namely Jagtar Singh S/o jarnail Singh R/O Pakhopur Taran Taran Punjab was immediately nabbed at the scene by the police following the thorough search of his vehicle in which they recuperate herion approximately of 250 gms along with 1 crore cash and in this case he has been booked under relevants sections alongside an investigation has been set in motion against him, the police man said.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that both the persons were involved in the narco trade. However detail investigation of the case is going on,” the police personnel added.
